"Nothing's more bad ass than a chick that can express herself through words!"
For years, LSH wrote magazine, radio and television ads for advertising agencies in Chicago. As a copywriter, she loved coming up with great ideas, promoting products and connecting with the target. However, it wasn’t until LSH left advertising, became a wife and mother, and enrolled in Roosevelt University’s MFA Creative Writing program that she considered herself a true writer.
LSH discovered she had a knack for creating characters, and telling compelling stories. Nine months before graduation the fiction writer hit her creative stride, and unleashed her debut chapbook, “MY BAD: a reading series by LSH”. Now with hundreds of books sold, LSH proves she’s not only a writer, but an author too. The book, “MY BAD” is filled with eighteen characters, their stories and provocative story lines about life experiences many people are uncomfortable to share or talk about, even with those closest to them.
“MY BAD” has grown tremendously since it’s release in August 2014. Not only is it a book, but it is now a form of entertainment. Bringing live storytelling performances to book club members, girlfriends, sororities and couples who host a private “LSH Nights” event. LSH Nights has also been hosted at numerous popular venues around Chicago and Atlanta. Fans and followers communicate to LSH and her team daily through social media and email about how the inspirational aspect of her book. Women are encouraged as they read, and relate to stories about desires, self-love, mature realities, honest truths, personal forgiveness and empowerment.
In May 2015, LSH reached another monumental goal by completing the Roosevelt University MFA Creative Writing program, and wrapping up her first novel, “Lucie Phillips Catches Fire”. In June 2015, LSH began recording the audio version of “MY BAD”. Allowing audiences to read, see and eventually listen to the “quickies and episodes” within the LSH reading series.
As a writer, author and creator of content, LSH’s goal is to make sure that every woman embraces who she is, the way she is, no matter where she is in life. This is what LSH refers to as a “BADDIE”; a baddie being "a woman that owns her own truth, offers no apologies for it and isn’t afraid to express it to the world!”.
